6 Questions for Classroom Teachers on College and Career Day

As an easy activity to get teachers, administrators, and staff on board to celebrate November's National Career Development Month, we had a "College and Career Day."

For teachers, this meant wearing a shirt, sweatshirt, or school colors to represent his or her alma mater. Teachers were given the direction at the beginning of each class period to share their personal educational and career path with students allowing them to ask questions as well.

Did you know November is NATIONAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT MONTH? There's no way you wouldn't around our high school. I am a huge advocate of career education and career preparation for high school students. (Check out the National Career Development Association if you're looking for more info.) I am currently finishing up my certification to be Career Development Facilitator certified.

As a school counselors, we have an entire chunk of the ASCA National Model dedicated to Career Development Standards. Our newest career assessments endeavor you will read about below addresses the major components of these standards: Develop Career Awareness (C:B1), Acquire Career Information (C:B1), and Identify Career Goals (C:B2)
